Established in 2013, The Girl Generation (TGG), is an African Led Movement (ALM) to eradicate Female Genital Mutilation &Cutting (FGM/C) in Africa by 2030, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Girl Generation works in partnership with multiple agencies, individuals, and other interest groups.
When TGG tasked Tessera to develop a comprehensive Brand Identity System, we crafted a logo, tagline, merchandising, and more as well as an impactful introductory video. These were to aid the ALM in achieving its goals and reinforce its mission to internal and external stakeholders.
In 1994, four ladies met at a university and formed a lasting friendship. After graduation, they pursued different path. Stella in Finance, Joanna in Brand Strategy, Maxi in Efficiency, and Nora in Human Resources, but stayed connected, sharing their personal and professional journeys.
During a girls’ trip to Greece in 2014, they discussed ‘Women in Business’ and the branding landscape in Kenya. They identified a gap: brands were too focused on sales and lacked emotional connection. Inspired, they made a pivotal decision- to create a unique branding agency that would infuse brands with soul—brands that resonate with consumers and inspire loyalty.
Amid the discussion to get a name for their brainchild, they noticed the number “four” echoed throughout their journey: four friends, their 2014 trip, and their diverse skills. Number four felt right. This led them to the Greek word for “four,” τέσσερα”, pronounced Tessera and choosing a vibrant turquoise blue of the Aegean Sea, as the brand colour.
Tessera started as one service offering agency (strategy) and worked with partners to bring brand stories to life. 8 years later – we are a fully integrated agency offering Strategy, Creative, Motion Graphics, and Digital services. Here, strategy and creativity intersect to create emotionally engaging brands.

She excels in crafting comprehensive digital strategies, developing engaging content and executing effective digital campaigns. She has worked with clients like Safaricom, Pam Golding Properties, Citizen Digital, HFC, Standard Media Group amongst others
Paul is an ingenious Art director and Photographer. In his over 8 years of expertise, this versatile designer worked on a variety of brands, including Seed Magazine, KOKO Networks, Equity Bank, and has noteworthy works under his belt such as Safaricom Golf Tour, Tuinuane, and Places of Hope (Safaricom’s 2023 Calendar).
Patricia has a striking flair for words. She has worked with brands like Coca-Cola, Kenya Airways, Safaricom, Multi Choice Africa and in projects like Coke Studio Africa, Zusha, Tusker Project Fame, and Safaricom Chapa Dimba among others. This wordsmith has been a Voice Over Artist and a Creative Copywriter for 10 years.
Jeannette is an eyes-on-the-prize Account Manager with 10 years of proficiency. She has gained diverse and stellar project management skills, and has had a significant number of clients under her wing including: Safaricom, Unilever, Britam, The Aga Khan Foundation, Shabiki, Madison Insurance, Total Touch Cargo, Fanta among others.
Stella is a resilient Finance Director with over 15 years of expertise in Strategic Planning and Formulation. She possesses a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) and a Master of Business Administration (Finance/Strategy) from the University of Texas at Dallas. She has emphasized process optimization and boosted organizational performance, efficiency and profitability.
Joanna is a visionary of 18+ years and was among the top 20 strategists in Africa and the Middle East at the prestigious 2021 Loeries Awards. She has built award-winning strategies for brands like Safaricom, EABL, Unilever, Britam, HF Group, Orange, Bidco, ICT Authority, Vision 2030, KASNEB, Two Rivers Mall among others.
Victoria is a polymath of over 4 years of expertise in Copywriting. She is a Transcriber and Mswahili who has provided her aptitude to brands like PesaLink, Safaricom, Co-Operative Bank, DTB, HF Group, Unilever, Letshego, Ajira with insidious campaigns such as Tulia, Blaze; Gaming Series, Target Save, Unahitaji Boost among others.
Julie is a Design extraordinaire. Her passion for art is evident in her integration of multimedia art forms with some of her clients being Safaricom, Blaze, and Co-operative Bank among others. In her 6+ years in the game, she has worked on campaigns including Blaze, Interior Branding and Safaricom Bonga Deals among others.
