Safaricom faced a challenge in 2022, despite having many Bonga Points, customers were not spending them. The company needed to motivate subscribers to spend their points or risk losing them by imposing an expiry date on points older than 3 years.

Our directive was clear: to inform and educate Safaricom customers about the deadline and the various ways they could spend their points. We did a deep dive and understood that people are naturally averse to loss, making them hesitant to part with their accumulated points.

Cue in DO MORE WITH YOUR BONGA POINTS, a campaign we designed to showcase the versatility and real value of Bonga points as a currency. From paying bills, getting minutes, texts, airtime, going shopping to deals at select stores and businesses and so much more.

Through targeted digital tactics, including influencer marketing and engaging video content, we directed audiences to the USSD and MySafaricom App for seamless point redemption. By tapping into their fear of missing out (FOMO), and presenting compelling redemption options, we successfully enticed customers to unlock the full potential of their Bonga Points before they expired.
